This is what steevak.com looks like on the Nintendo Wii: Nothing remarkable yet, but Internet on the Wii is still in trial version. I’m sure this will be exploited well by both Nintendo and other parties (like this which makes the Wii a media center). It is pretty cool surfing YouTube and Google Video from [...]

Sunset on Mars

NASA captured a sunset on Mars: For some reason, I think this picture is really cool. UPDATE: Dan prompted me to make this a wallpaper. Get it here (1920×1280, so best suitable for widescreen displays).

The Tesla

I’ve mentioned several times that I’m a big fan of alternative energy, particularly in cars, and after reading about the Tesla roadster I’m even more excited: I’ve always marveled at how long the antique internal-combustion engine has survived. By 2006 standards, my car’s power plant is a noisy, heat-blasting, poison-spewing monster with way too many [...]

Just about every finding in this study, conducted by a “feminist,” only confirms what we already know. The whole article is quotable, but here’s the main snippet: In fact, women talk almost three times as much as men, with the average woman chalking up 20,000 words in a day – 13,000 more than the average [...]

Wii!

Last Sunday, I purchased a Nintendo Wii. The Wii is Nintendo’s next-generation console (soon to be last-generation) that is going head to head with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Like those other consoles, anticipation for it is high, though not nearly as hyped up and overblown as the Playstation 3, so a couple of [...]

Don’t get pwned

Faithful reader Fluger has pointed out there’s been a critical security flaw found in the Worldcom wireless drivers for Windows. The link details how to fix this until more official patched drivers are released. Don’t get completely owned if you have a PC laptop and use wireless, check it out.

Speedy fingers

A big part of my job is sending text messages, so I’m fairly competent at it now. However, I’m nowhere near as good as this guy. A 160 character sentence with lots of strange words in less than 50 seconds! It’d take me a few minutes to tap that sucker out.

Firefox 2.0 has arrived

Get it here.

Firefox 2.0 hit RC2 (release candidate 2) a few days ago. In noob-speak, this means Firefox 2.0 is probably going to be hitting the virtual shelves sometime within a month. I’ve been using it the 2.0 builds at home for a couple of months now, and I haven’t had any issues except for extensions not [...]

Powerbook resurrection

Tonight I finally got around to replacing the drive on my dying Powerbook. I got a Seagate 100 GB 7200 RPM drive to replace the failing stock drive, but that’s not the important part. The important part is the pictures, so let’s get on with those. First, Apple thought it’d be a fun thing if [...]
