world roundup
Sorry this was delayed. My friend Nic showed up just when I started it. I have three things.
1. Chirac claims there have been 10,000 deaths from the heat wave that’s hitting France. Unsurprisingly most of the victims were the elderly. It also seems they were left home alone by their vacationing families. Isn’t August the month a lot of French people take family vacations? I think it is. I have a few points. First, Chirac was vacationing in Canada. He’s obviously a smart man; Canada is cool (in both ways). Second, it’s surprising that they had this many deaths. When we get heat waves it’s national news if any more than 20 people die. I just have a hard time imagining ten thousand people dying just from the heat. And the heat wasn’t even that hot! It got to 104 degrees. That doesn’t strike me as a lethal heat. Anyway I think the French should try to appease the Sun so that it will take down the heat a smidge.
2. Some Egyptians want to sue all the Jews in the world for the gold that they took with them when they left Egypt in the Exodus. I think this article is interesting for two reasons. It shows the sheer hatred some people have for the Jews, and it is ludicrously stupid.
3. Finally, the Alabama Chief Justice has been suspended because he refuses to have the monument of the 10 Commandments removed from the courthouse. I think it is highly ironic that the Alabama Attorney General says we have to “uphold the law” while at the same time trying to get this monument moved. Yes, let’s uphold the law and remove any reminders what those very laws were based on . . .

As if the Egyptians didn’t learn the leasons from past experiences when messin with the Jews. Lets recap, 10 plauges and the 6-day war. Thats all I really got, yet still it speaks volumes.
